Re: Opinions about _When the drummers were women_ book
Wed, October 3, 2007 - 5:40 PMI have the book, and it is one of the favorite items on my bookshelf. I have read it all the way through, but sometimes just grab it and read a page or two, here and there, for inspiration.

Re: Opinions about _When the drummers were women_ book
Sun, October 7, 2007 - 3:41 PMI think it's wonderful, I liked it very much when I read it years ago.
I think so highly of Layne Redmond both as a musician and scholar, she's a nice person as well.
I've seen her lecture and I also took some workshops too.

Re: Opinions about _When the drummers were women_ book
Mon, October 8, 2007 - 11:16 AMIt is a fancinating and inspiring book. I saw Laynes slide show and talk years before her book came out. When I saw all these images of women playing the frame drum, I wepted inside as if having some remembrance of playing..and it inspired my own journey into the frame drum.
I still study with her when she comes to town, for she always has something new to integrate.
This book is Laynes own calling to find out what occurred and happened with all these women who played these frame drums. Who were they, what were their functions and where did they go.
