The Current Evolution of the Alchemical Fire Circle

Aloha Friends and Family!
As we prepare for a summer full of ecstatic exploration, sacred engagement and re-union around the Fire, I'm dropping in to share some writing I've been working on, in partnership with Spinner, Magnus and Joshua. As many of you know, we have been collaborating on a unique experiment called "Fires Rising" in Pennsylvania for the last 4 years, that has focused on delving deeply into traditional and modern alchemical metaphors and processes. We're aware that many stories have been told about the magic and mysteries of those fires - and that some of what you have heard may not have made sense. When new visions unfold and new experiments are run, they are often challenging to understand from outside the laboratory in question.

The document; "The Current Evolution of the Alchemical Fire Circle", is a summation of the goals the four of us have had, the learnings we gained over the last three summers, and is an indicator of the direction toward which our collective highest vision has us aimed. The document was written primarily for the purpose of coming to consensus with each other on what our current understandings and agreements are of this particular version of "The Work" going into Summer 2008.

If we haven't played together for a while, this is a way for you to at least get a glimpse into what the four of us have been brewing.

Many of the principles detailed also inform the Vegas Vortex Mayfire and Hawaii Fire Tribe Gatherings, and will be foundational to two new laboratories we are beginning to work in this year as we seed the Alchemical Fire Circle into the Free Spirit Gathering in Maryland ( http://freespiritgathering.org/fsg/index.html ), and the Wisteria Corn Stalk Festival in Ohio ( http://www.wisteria.org/cornstalk.htm ). Of course, we'd love to see you at Mayfire ( http://www.vegasvortex.com ), Fire Tribe Hawaii ( http://www.firetribehawaii.org/ ), or Fires Rising ( http://4qf.org/_FiresRising/index.htm ) as well!
Please visit http://vegasvortex.com/pages/evolutionfirecircle for a .pdf of the article.

Thank you for your interest :)

The four of us remain deeply curious about what learnings are happening among the other diverging and converging events in the Family of Fire, and we hope to read similar reports in the future.

May we all grow our Oneness through Diversity!
World Wide Drum Vigil

Community DrumKeepers,

We have the unique opportunity to Sound the Heartbeat Together in our MARCH 21, 2008 WORLDWIDE DRUM VIGIL. The GrandMother Drum International Peace Project and Community Drum Keepers will join together with:

1. The International Indigenous University: The Ceremony of 8,000 Sacred Drums.

8,000 DRUMS on March 21 at noon / central time
March 21, 2008
From the Otomi Ceremonial Center
Temoaya, Mexico

According to a Sacred Prophecy revealed at the Otomi Ceremonial Center by the Otomi Elder Sages as a Vision of our Venerable Ancestors, the day when the sounds of 8,000 Sacred Drums join together will be the beginning of the healing of Mother Earth, of all the species and the human family in order to be able to live together on the road to Sacred Peace.

It is time to unify ourselves and rediscover all the seeds of the Four Directions in order to reactivate cosmic energy, heal historical wounds and heal Mother Earth by respecting life, liberty and the dignity of our Peoples. The first great ceremony was held March 21, 2004 in Temoaya, Mexico and there will be drum circles joined around the world on the Spring Equinox continuing every year until 2012.

Sacred Principles:

*Sealing and healing the wounded vertices of Mother Earth is urgent.
*Identifying and activating the Indigenous energy centers at sacred places is our duty.
*Planting and strengthening consciousness of love and respect for our Mother Earth is everyone's work.
*The Indigenous ancestral recommendation to create and practice the Grand Culture of Peace and Life is fundamental.
*Recognition of the use of the energy and healing properties of our sacred instruments is a principle goal of our Indigenous Mission.

Fullfillment of the Prophecies...

500 year-old Otomi Prophecy...When 8000 sacred drums play together, an intense healing of Mother Earth will commence.

Inca... Call it the 'Age of Meeting Ourselves Again'.

Hopi... Predict a 25 year period of purification followed by End of Fourth World and beginning of the Fifth.

Mayan... Call it the 'end days' or the end of time as we know it

Maori... Say that as the veils dissolve there will be a merging of the physical & spiritual worlds.

Zulu... Believe that the whole world will be turned upside down.

Hindu... Kali Yuga (end time of man). The Coming of Kalki & critical mass of Enlightened Ones.

Aztec... Call this the Time of the Sixth Sun. A time of transformation. Creation of new race.

Pueblo... Acknowledge it'll be the emergence into the Fifth World

Cherokee... Their ancient calendar ends exactly at 2012 as does the Mayan calendar.

Tibetan... Kalachakra teachings are prophesies left by Buddha predicting Coming of the Golden Age.

Egypt... According to the Great Pyramid (stone calendar), present time cycle ends in year 2012 AD

Dogon... Say that the spaceship of the visitors, the Nommo, will return in the form of a blue star.-Courtesy of Bernardo

NOTE: 8000 Drums Magic Number
This number 8000 has a very special relationship.

It has been found that it takes a certain number of
people to start a shift within human consciousness.
That number is the square root of 1 per cent.

There are over 6.5 billion people on Mother Earth right
now and square root of 1 per cent is around 8000

So the 8000 is around the minimum number we need to start this
process of healing. Amazing!!! this prophesy has a number directly
related with our human consciousness.

As we do this drumming, we can also FEEL the HEALING
of ourselves and Mother Earth as if it has already happened.

In other words, step into that future where this healing has
already taken place and give THANKS to the CREATOR for
giving us this blessing.

2. SOLAR WAVE UPDATES

Do you have 32 minutes to CHANGE the WORLD?
The shift of the ages is just around the corner!

THE 14th Annual SOLAR WAVE 2008
March 21st, 2008 with a FULL MOON!

A Stellar Synchronized, 24 Hour, Global Equinox Event!
What if... you knew about a powerful time each day at your location on the planetary grid... that your 6th sense abilities were 400% times more effective?
*** This is the call to the awakening masses to join together to activate a Huge Stellar Wave of POSITIVE MASS CONSCIOUSNESS to spontaneous heal all discordant energy on EARTH, and Initiate a Spontaneous Awakening of Humanity!
It is time to Reclaim Paradise.

does anyone think this is a good idea. and if so are you interested
you would have to buy your own drum and it will prolly just be in our heads for a while. but if your interested plz talk to me

Books for beginning drummers?

I have a djembe I'm just learning to play. At Burning Man this summer, I jammed with a woman who had a book with different rhythms/patterns for djembe, but I have forgotten the name of the book. Does anyone have books (or websites) they recommend for beginners?

Greetings

My name is Cindy. I live in Las Vegas, NV. Although currently I find myself in the UK. I have been drumming for about 6 years. I have dabbled in many forms of the drum. Middle
Eastern, African and a bit of Indian. Drumming is something that I
absolutely love!

A few years back we started a list of drummers in the Las Vegas Area,
non-denominational drumming list so to say. Any type of drumming is
welcomed. I help moderate this list and would like to extend an
invitation to you to join the Vegas Drum Circle list.

This helps if you are planning to come to town and want to plug in.
Wishe to share a drumming event that may be happening or if you are planning to
come to Vegas to teach or looking for places to plug in. Also if you have new drumming material, teaching wise or music wise to share, really the possibilities are
endless! Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
Thanks

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VEGASDRUMCIRCLES/

Trying to connect the world of drummers one drum and a time!

Much Love to you,
Cindy

Come to the Mermaid Parade on 6/23 in Coney island

For anyone who wants to join Eastwinds Tribal Drumming's pre-registered group "Beach Blanket Beledi" at the 25th Annual Mermaid Parade this Saturday , June 23rd in Coney Island, Brooklyn:

Here are some important details:

Cost: YES!!!! there is a $10 per person fee to march.. (There may be a discount if we get a large number...if that happens, it'll be a happy surprise! Plan on $10 just to be sure, ok?!) Our pre-registered group, which is called "BEACH BLANKET BELEDI," welcomes anybody and everybody OVER 18. Please note: Jeff & I are not making any money on this whatsoever-all fees go to the Mermaid Parade, to support the insanity that is Coney Island.

Time: Jeff & I will be there at 10 A.M. because I'm an anal retentive control freak...and... we want to make sure we get a good marching "spot" (not too close to anybody else's music, fer example.) We will be leading the ME percussion - we'd encourage the drummers to meet us no later than 1 pm... or not.. We would appreciate RIQ players...but any percussion is good. Remember...long parade, hot sun...plan ahead, my darlings!!!! Dancers can show up whenever the heck you like...it's all good! Just make sure you sign in and pay the nice Mermaid Parade folks. (BTW, zills...always a good parade idea!)

Finding us: I'll be l be dressed in Pirate/ Tribal garb, and wearing a small davul and a big smile. Jeff will be the big piratety-looking guy playing the AWESOME lead doumbek riffs. If anybody wants to make/carry a "Beach Blanket Beladi" sign, go for it! It's really crowded...you might want to arrive before 1pm...(Casey's left eye starts to twitch in anticipation of people showing up whenever they want..) Seriously, you REALLY might consider 1:15 at the very latest (noticible tremor starts in upper lip area.)

WARNING: Every year, some girls parade in pasties and other burlesque-style attire. There may be girls who will be scantily clad in our merry little band. Our group is strictly for OVER 18. Additionally, "Sheik of Araby" and "Gotta Go Back to Constantinople" way be spontaneously played on kazoo. Ok, you've been warned!

Questions??? Holla back on Tribe or to DrumNdancegrl@aol.com. See you on Saturday!

~ Casey

Well...I did it. I added a Paypal shopping cart to my long neglected drum and shekere website. With some changes happening in my life it has become necessary for me to get back to it and pay attention to promoting my craft. What an interesting and lovely turn! The website itself is just ... well, gaudy is one word that comes to mind - the next is functional. A gaudy, but functional website. It needs a good revamp but I don't have the time to change the look and feel of it right now. So here is the url.... browse about, enjoy, pass the url to someone else - and I hope it doesn't sting your eyes too much to look at it ;-)

Where are all the beat making sisters at????
I am looking for a percussionist and/or bass player to work with on some live acoustic sets in June- I am open to anyone of any gender really, but looking for a woman for one show in particular where all the performers need to be women-
I will be playing at Harmony Fest June 8-10th (open to working with men here) and then at Dyke March on June 23rd (which is an all woman event attended by about 50,0000 people!!)
I am hoping to find someone to work with for not only these events but also others in the near future..
My music is a fusion of soul, reggae, jazz, hip- hop... with a little Cuban essence here and there- I am a singer and play guitar- most of the songs will be originals though there will be some old blues and soul covers/remixes a la Cleome
Im looking to produce beats soon but for the time being am developing some acoustic sets to get the music out there -
It would be ideal if you have experience with hand drums, and world percussion instruments...and a blue and funky spirit influenced by blues, conscious hip hop and world music. The songs are not too complicated and simple yet rich and unusual percussion and rhythm fills are desired.
Please respond as soon as you can so we can meet and I can show you what I do and you can see if you like it! Even if you cant make these shows I'd like to meet you for future work. Its important to me to bring pure open hearted energy to the music with consciousness and honest feeling---
Blessings all- please send this on to anyone you might think may be interested...
Peace
Cleome
check me out on tribe!

I have yet to "meet" a woman that I can relate to on a level of percussion. I went to Raquy's retreat and (name withheld) was vocalizing the Indian rhythmic syllables out loud. I thought to myself that I would love to have a girlfriend who was into that kind of stuff. There are not too many woman drummers (1) where I am from that are seriously dedicated to the craft. I try to hip everybody to it, and some are interested (men women) and some are just not. I guess all I can do is dream. Drums are such a personal, universal instrument that transcends culture and gender. I think everybody should do it!!! But if there are any single woman drummers out there....send me a message cause you rock!!!

Call to Austin Texas Drummers for 1st Thursday show

Hi All,

WyldeFyre Productions puts on a live show every 1st Thursday at Amy's Ice Cream on Far South Congress. The next show is April 5, 2007. The event opens at 6 with fire spinning classes, then belly dancing performances, then we have fire dancing performances & then we have open performance with live drumming & dancing (all types). We need live drummers (all style welcome - middle eastern is great for the belly dancers, african for the fire dancers, etc) & dancers (belly dancers, fire dancers or other ethnic dancers are all wanted). Please feel free to email me at AmberBarbara@hotmail.com or here within Tribe/Austin/AmberBarbara for more information.

I hope the drummers can make it out with us. Live drumming makes the show for me!

Ethnic Drumming & Dancing exhibitions/performances will also be considered.

Thanks in advance,

AmberBarbara

drumSTRONG needs your support!!!

drumSTRONG is a unique, multicultural charity event held in the pastures of Misty Meadows Farm to raise funds to support those dealing with cancer, cancer education, awareness, and funding for research. It will involve people of all ages and “walks of life” but educating youth to the causes, early detection and affects of cancer is one of our primary missions and we know this event will enlighten a lot of young people and spark involvement.

The Guinnesss World Record organization has been informed that drumSTRONG drummers (and others) will keep continuous rhythm in motion for at least 24 hours starting on May 5, 2007 just outside of Charlotte, NC.

Along with local high school and college drum corps, a horde of professional artists have been invited to participate. Full stage and backline support will be on site and all present will play along with center stage activities.

health fair
There will be an area at the event with tents and tables where various health (and other) organizations will have a venue to convey their missions and methods to a large group of people. Few people are not "touched" by cancer in some fashion...

DrumsForCures is also organizing a national network of percussionists to bring rhythm into children's hospitals and clinics for the unifying, healing and entertainment values. We know that it works on many levels.

If nothing else, I’d love for you (family and friends) to come play – drum, sing, dance, enjoy…

Much more info. is shared on the website www.drumstrong.org.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would drop me a line and share your thoughts. Please don't hesitate to call with any questions.

All the best,
Scott

Anyone want to buy a new djembe or shekere?

Hello!
I am new to tribe and would like to introduce myself. My name is Pam. I am a self-taught hand drum and shekere maker specializing in djembes and ashikos. I also make doumbecs, doununs and frame drums. I play in a percussion ensemble in the mid-Missouri called "Divine Rhythm." The ensemble is myself and 2 of my former students. Although we have studied drum songs from Africa and continue to be inspired by music from all over, the music we play is our own, original works. I have been playing for about 15 years now and making/repairing drums for about the same amount of time.

I have hand carved djembes and doununs myself but also work with shells coming from Africa. Currently, I have EXQUISITE djembes from Mali and professional grade djembes from Ivory Coast. I have never seen any hand carved instruments quite like the djembes from Mali - they are so precisely carved and finely finished that one has to look closely to see the chisel marks and take measurements to see that the instrument was in fact hand carved and not turned on a lathe. I know exactly what an enormous amount of work it would take to carve something like that out of a hardwood such as lingue! Wow! I am also working on turning a couple hundred board feet of 100+ year old maple into some very gorgeous ashikos. They sound great, too and can be headed with goat or cow skin. As far as shekeres are concerned, I have a few in stock now, made by me. Some have glow in the dark beads on them. I work in 2 different styles - the shekere style (from Nigeria - usually made with a bottle or kettle gourd with the top cut off and a beaded net that has a loop at both ends) and the djabarra style (from Guinea - usually made with a dipper gourd with a long handle and beaded net with a loop at the top and a tassle at the bottom). The two shaker styles are played very differently but produce the same sound.

I am a stickler for quality so all of my instruments are professional grade whether the drum shells are shaped by my hands or from someone elses. Let me know if any of this sounds interesting. I will be happy to give price qoutes and send photos. I also have a website that is in terrible need of updating.....yet another project.

Please note: I am new to tribe and hope that everyone will forgive me if I have broken any rules of etiquette by tooting my own horn a little bit. :-)

Bright Blessings!
Pam

We are courteous, respectful and easy to be around. Does anyone know of or are you sponsoring a circle that will be drumming in the New Year? SF or East Bay. Please send me a message if you can help.

This is call to anyone whom may know of drum circles happening closer to us OC/I.E./San Berdo folks. LA is a far drive for some of us (even longer by bus/train) and even S.D. (where there is an active circle) is too far for some of us.

Any hints as I've done a search and come up w/ nothing so far.

WEIRD PERCUSSION Tribe formed

I'm not a woman so I"ll skeedaddle out of here after this post and let the
goddess percussive energy take over, but I thought some of you might be attracted to this tribe.

Please forgive me if you feel this is an intrusion. I mean no disrespect. Besides, the womyn of
Pele Juju made me an honorary lesbian after touring with them playing trapset for four months
when they were attempting to replace their drummer with someone permanent...............lol

Drum on , sisters!

WEIRD PERCUSSION TRIBE formed
tribes.tribe.net/weirdpercussion

Today in a hardware store, I found myself staring at a whole display full of magnets of different sizes
while waiting for some keys to be made for me. Because lately I"ve been on this kick to take normal
cymbals and gongs and extract new sounds out of them, I've been fascinated by putting chaing and
other rattles on them.

Anway, I have three sets of these super magnets that you throw in the air to make weird buzzing sounds as
they attract to each other when it occured to me that it might be really cool to put each one of these
magnets on opposite sides of a cymbal. Sure enough, you can cause some really cool faux distortion
sounds out of the cymbals.

Then I tried it on a small pitched wind gong. I struck the gong and then moved the magnets and got the
coolest sound to come out of it.

I just wanted to share it with someone and realized that there was no place to officially do so at Tribe,
so I decided to start the WEIRD PERCUSSION TRIBE.

Come join me if it sounds interesting. tribes.tribe.net/weirdpercussion

Sacred Fire Circle Magic on the Playa!! One Night Only!!

BURNINGMAN 2006
2nd ANNUAL SACRED FIRE CIRCLE ALCHEMY
ONE NIGHT ONLY!
Start: 11pm Wednesday, 8/30
Conclusion: Sunrise, Thursday 8/31

Since the dawn of time, human beings have gathered
around the fire to drum, sing, trance dance and to
weave magic in the light of fire. This year's BM theme
of "The Future: Hope and Fear", offers each of us the
opportunity to powerfully invoke our hopes for the
future and to cast our fears and those beliefs that do
not serve us into this alchemical fire.

We use the word Sacred in the title of this Experience
to infer deep, deep levels of gratitude and respect for each
other, for ourselves and for life. You are encouraged
to explore, maintain and/or cultivate whatever
worldviews work for you, so long as they are mutually
respectful of everyone in the circle.

We will provide this sacred space in the same general
Playa locations last year's all-night Sacred Fire Circle -
approximately 300 yards to the Southeast of the spine
(visualize 2 o‚clock on the dial), a few minutes
bicycle ride beyond the Temple).

Please bring:
drums/percussion instruments (we will have a lockable
trailer at the Circle on Wednesday so as to facilitate
early delivery of drums), warm clothes and enough
water and food to keep yourself nourished. The Sacred
Fire Circle is a potent cauldron for making real-world
magic! Please join us.

BURNING MAN MUSE? CALLING OUT to BRING THE FIRE

After a weekend of fires and alchemy, I am really wanting to see the MUSE come to life on the Playa. 4 Years ago a group of us brought the sacred fires for four nights onto the playa in this container we create of love and magic and it was SO ROCKIN... we had an average of 500 people a night and truly blissful dawns holding hands and still going strong...

I am calling out: IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN HELPING TO BRING a sacred playground of sound, movement and intention to the PLAYA, PLEASE BE IN TOUCH. There is a small CALI crew coming forth, and I know we can get this together. Again, it will be about you bringing what you can: The supply list is still on the discussion posts on the Magical Mystical Muse tribe site: and wood, benches, torches, etc WILL BE NEEDED for sure.

My intention is to do atleast 2 nights, and possibly 3 nights of fires. There is another group doing one night, and I want to be sure it's NOT on that night so that we are all respected and have space to bring it out without competing in any way. They are great folks and I want to be at that fire too!

Be in touch, and spread the word please.
Love and light

Check it out! I make no pretensions about being a great player, but I had a LOT of fun doing this! I just wanted to share it with a drumming audience, instead of just my friends and family (who love me but can't tell which part is the solo). I'd like it if anybody wanted to leave a comment, too.

Ideas needed--- for a Drumming workshop for children

Hiya Drummers on Tribe~

I teach babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers Kindermusik. Prior to teaching, I played drums for years, in various bands.

The director at the school where I teach has asked me to create a DRUMMING workshop for kids ages 9-12 and teach it in the future.

Ideas needed--- for a Drumming workshop for children

As I work on creating a course outline, I could really use some fresh and inspiring ideas. I really want for this drum workshop to be a fun and amazing experience for the kids... so with that in mind, I invite you all to participate in my brainstorm! Please chime in and add ideas to this thread as you wish...

-What should be covered in a 75 minute class that meets once a week for five weeks?

-Home materials? Can anyone recommend a good drumming book? (Hand Drumming)

- What are some good drumming themed **crafts** or instrument making activity could we do?

- What is the best (and funnest) approach to teaching kids this age how to play in an 'ensemble'?

- Are there resources or examples of group drumming lesson plans for children online for me to refer to?

- Has anyone else here taught a drumming workshop for children? What are your thoughts and experiences?

Thanks in advance to anyone replies!

I have recently started a tribe for the local samba school
that I am in. The tribe is an amalgamation of Unidos de Filadelfia
and other local African Brazilian and Cuban groups that perform
not just around Philly, but internationally. Anyone with ties to or
love for Philly is welcome to join. We have many very talented
female drummers in our midst.

Join the Wave...
Join together with all the world on Sunday, June 25th,
2006
To play drums and chant good energy
7 - 8 p.m. in your time zone

For A Second Time...
Ring the world with energy for 24 solid hours!!!

Everything begins in the spirit first.
This is why our words, sounds, and intentions are so
important.
These create our world and our life.
Life and death are in the power of the tongue.

The wave has begun. Do you feel it? Can you hear it?
You can still be part of it.
Open your spirit to recieve of it.
Let it cleanse us all of our differences and join us
one voice that would echo through our planet and
beyond.

We are a beacon that stands in the forefront. As long
as we are here, that which opposes us diminishes in
it's workings and is held back. As spiritual
individuals we make our stand. We rise above the
things which are unexceptable. We become a voice for
the things we hold dear.

Change our world.

Whether it is for something great or small, make a
difference.
Become a bright shining light in the darkness.
No matter how great or small one's light is...
LIGHT IS ALWAYS GREATER THAN DARKNESS.

Be blessed
Namaste

There is now a tribe for drummers that were or want to be a part of the Man's pre-burn fire show, and are not already a supporting member of a fire conclave.
Join up! There will be the need for more ambiance players at the 2006 burn!

SpiritFire - Ecstatic Dance, rhythm, and mystery...

Hello Tribe, hope everyone is having a smooth entry into 2006...

SpiritFire Festival (July 5-9, 2006) registration is beginning now, with very reduced rates until March 10th. Online registration should be available in the coming week or two, but right now you can download the mail-in registration forms (PDF or DOC) via the registration page on the SFF website.
http://spiritfirefestival.org/register.php All registrations include mostly organic, tasty food prepared by the Sufis who own the retreat.

This year we have a fantastic initial lineup of fellow artists coming to share their knowledge and enthusiasm - please check out who's coming at
http://spiritfirefestival.org/people.php?group=Teachers - you'll see some of who were with us last year, as well, to give you an idea of the flow of the event.

Some of the fire lighting rituals and other info is already up, as well, although things will be changing quite a bit as the months progress. I'm blessed to co-create this amazing sacred rhythm and motion (and one heck of a good time) - couldn't ask for anything more. Except for you to be there too.

We hope you'll make it - the vibes are feeling good!

Many blessings,
Josselyne

intro and inspiration

Woah ladies! Just found this tribe and I am so inspired! I study traditional west african dance (djembe) and am just getting into drumming. I LOOOOOOVE playing the dunduns, especially ballet style, since it is so tied into the dance, but my teachers are making me stick to the djembe until I "graduate" to the next level. Ah, typical male patriarchial climb the ladder crap! But really, with all due repect to the african traditions, I am taking it one step at a time...I have been asking my teacher to create an all women's dundun/dance performance group so we can bust out some sorsonet and kakilambe and our shows. We'll see if he's up for it when he comes back from africa.

In the meantime I saw photos of the goddess of funk on this tribe. YYYYEEEAAAHHH LADIES! THAT is what I have been talking about! I got to pull the ladies together and make it happen out here in southern oregon. I taught a dance conference last month for young girls and had all women drummers. I was so proud. We rocked! CHICKS WITH STICKS!

Anyways, just wanted to say hello. Check out my tribe page for some cool photos of me dancing. Gotta get more pix of me drumming...

Innuwali!

Soul Fire Inside is One Year Old!

Soul Fire Inside is having a birthday party -- we're One Year Old!!!

Please join us on Saturday, Feb. 11 for this very special celebration. The doors will be open throughout the afternoon at Seeker's Church, 267 Carroll Street, NW, Washington, DC, for you to come and explore what we do and why we do it.

SFI Birthday Bash
2-5pm - Open House as we build the Temple
5-6pm - Community Potluck
6-7:30 - Heart Fire Discussion & Community Art Project – Donations accepted.
8-11pm - Soul Fire Inside's New Year Circle - $10.00
11-midnight – Taking down the Temple

Now that SFI is a year old and we have some common experience, it seems like a good time to talk about what we do behind the scenes with Soul Fire Inside and in the fire circle community. We want to provide an opportunity to dialogue about how we can all engage more directly with the flow of energy at these types of events.

Some of the main philosophies of the fire circle community are that the fire is sacred, that our intentions and interactions matter and that we are all empowered to sculpt the feeling, or the energy of the evening. Yet what does this mean? And how do you do that sculpt thing?

We imagine that this discussion will encourage and enable us to deepen our direct experience of the divine mysteries that are at play. Our hope is that you will get a better sense of how to engage with these mysteries and begin to more easily see the clues that spirit leaves for us to find.

THANK YOU for helping us reach this milestone -- without you, none of this would be possible. We look forward to sharing our gratitude and celebration with the Soul Fire Family ~ a non- denominational and eclectic community, formally welcoming all people seeking access to their authentic natures as we hold space to help make the world a better place, One Fire At A Time.

peace matters,
Mz. imani, Katy and the Soul Fire Inside Crew

Drumming in Maine

Different Drummers Drum Circle of Yarmouth, Maine has been so popular for the past three years that we meet three times per month year-round in order to keep the size of the circle managable and enjoyable.

We are a freestyle drum circle which is led by the music rather than an individual as we play rhythms which are intuitive, emotive and creative rather than traditional. Expect to find a welcoming atmosphere and lots of upbeat energy. Our circle is frequented by families, couples and individuals. 60-80% of our attendance are women.

We invite fellow New Englanders (drummers and dancers) and Womyn Who Drum tribe members visiting Maine this winter to join us. You'll find our meeting location and schedule on our website.
